What does an applicant entering Voenmech need to know in 2016?
Passing the Unified State Exam has now become a mandatory procedure for all schoolchildren, and the procedure for admitting applicants to universities has changed every year since then. This year is no exception. To ensure that there are no unpleasant surprises when enrolling in Voenmech, we have prepared answers to the most frequently asked questions for applicants.
What is needed for admission?
1. Submit documents (copies or originals) within the specified time frame; 2. pass the competition, 3. submit original documents (if not submitted earlier), 4. write a consent for enrollment, which indicates one priority direction\speciality.
What does "one priority" mean?
The applicant still has the right to apply to five universities, and in each of them - for three specialties/directions. However, when submitting originals, the applicant chooses not only one university, but also one direction/specialty. This means that if you don’t pass the score in the competition for your chosen specialty/direction, you will be able to try to enroll in another only in the next wave, and without your knowledge the members admissions committee they will not be able to “transpose” the original.
How are Unified State Exam scores calculated?
1. BSTU "Voenmech" does not establish additional limiting levels: you can submit documents to us with points equal to minimum threshold, which is established by the Ministry of Education for admission to a university, or exceeding this threshold. 2. To enter a university you must take profile Unified State Exam in mathematics and have at least three passed exams. Thus, if an applicant passes three exams, and one of them is basic mathematics, then he will not be able to enter any university in the country. If an applicant has passed four exams or more, but only passed basic mathematics, then he can enter those specialties or areas where mathematics is not required for admission. At BSTU “VOENMEKH” there is only one such specialty – “Translation and Translation Studies”, for which you need to take: Russian and foreign languages, as well as social studies. Budget places not in this specialty.
What can you get extra points for?
Additional points can be obtained: for sporting achievements (1 point); for a certificate with honors (9 points); School essay when entering BSTU "Voenmech" is not taken into account.
What does winning the Olympiad give you upon admission?
A victory or a prize-winning place at a school Olympiad in a core subject is equal to 100 points if the applicant scores at least 75 points in the exam in that subject. The Olympiad diploma can be taken into account only in one university.
What are the preferential categories of citizens?
In 2016, special admission rules remain for residents of Crimea and Sevastopol. They are entered as part of a separate competition or by Unified State Exam results, or based on the results entrance examinations conducted by the university independently. Citizens who have appropriate benefits also apply outside the competition. The benefit can only be used at one university.
