Where are the Towers of Flame?

The unusual and symbolic Flame Towers are located in Baku - the city of bright lights and incredible memories.

Flame Towers- these are three tall buildings, somewhat similar to a sail, somewhat like “tongues” of flame. The height of these flames is 190, 160 and 140 meters respectively. That is, each is twenty to thirty meters higher than the previous one.

It is also worth noting that these three buildings are the tallest buildings in Azerbaijan. By the way, and a little lower.

Especially beautiful view The Tower of Flame opens at night, when the earth is illuminated only by the light of the moon and the sky is filled with stars. In the dark, three buildings become supposedly alive! The play of colors and light fascinates and makes you forget about all your problems. Sometimes, during the light show, it really seems that the three buildings are real flames.

Construction of Flame Towers in Baku

Construction of buildings in Baku began back in 2007. Previously already in place existing Towers The Moscow Hotel was on fire.

Already in 2012, the tallest buildings of Baku and all of Azerbaijan appeared before residents and tourists in all their glory. The project developed by the American bureau of the NOC was not just successful. It was one of the most successful projects in history. And the idea did not come by chance - the history of Azerbaijan helped here.

The first building houses offices, the second has become a residential building, and the third has become a five-star hotel. Fairmont Baku, consisting of three hundred and forty-seven numbers.

Baku is changing right before our eyes! Every day in the capital of Azerbaijan, new buildings, public centers, and skyscrapers appear. However, the scale of this is not yet comparable to that in Dubai. But perhaps it’s up to the future! After all, already in 2019 in Baku may appear Azerbaijan Towertallest building in the world.

Comparisons between Baku and Dubai can go on for a long time. In both cities, active construction is underway using gas and oil money. These cities are becoming business centers of their region, investors from all over the world are increasingly looking at them, and best architects planets dream of one day being invited to build buildings there.

To be even more like its Arab “big brother”, Baku is even planning to build an artificial archipelago, the Khazar Islands. The Azerbaijan Tower will become its high-rise dominant.

The height of this skyscraper will be 1050 meters (189 floors), which is 50 meters higher than the Kingdom Tower - the tallest structure announced for construction in the world. Now the palm leaves from Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan Tower will become the center of the Khazar Islands district, built on artificial islands in the Caspian Sea near Baku. It will develop in stages. The result will be residential, public and office buildings for the 1 million people living and working there. In particular, it is planned to build 150 schools and 50 hospitals on the Khazar Islands. Shopping and cultural centers, parks, sports complexes and even a track for Formula 1 racing. The total area of the reclaimed territory will be 2000 hectares. A system of bridges and multi-lane highways will connect this new area with the center of Baku.

Construction of the record-high Azerbaijan Tower skyscraper is scheduled to begin in 2015. They plan to put it into operation in 2018-2019 (Kingdom Tower is expected to appear in 2016-2017). The entire Khazar Islands project must be fully implemented before 2022.

I love skyscrapers and architecture in general. Contrary to popular belief that all the interesting things ended in the 19th century, I find both Soviet houses and modern buildings attractive. The era of the USSR left us with wonderful constructivism, and multi-story towers are simply mesmerizing in their appearance, like complex engineering structures. However, I got distracted, sorry, I’m talking about Baku. In the photo are Flame Towers, the famous Flame Towers, which have become one of the symbols of the city. On the first day I went to look at them.

Fountain "Bahram-gur". The sculpture depicts the Sasanian Shahinshah of Iran slaying a dragon. This is an episode of Nizami Ganjavi's poem "Seven Beauties". I hope you remember who Nizami Ganjavi is.

Skyscrapers are on the mountain. You can go upstairs by cable car. I am partial to this type of transport, and was glad to combine business with pleasure. The fare is 0.50 manat, payment only in cash. BakiKART doesn't work either. It seems that the funicular used to be free. Made changes to Wikipedia and created a navigation address https://naviaddress.com/994/922727

The funicular appeared in Baku in 1960. There was a long period when he did not work. In the early 2000s, the funicular was repaired and launched. The length of the tracks is 455 meters, the cabin can accommodate 28 people. Departure every 20 minutes.

I took the last empty seat and rejoiced at my luck. But something went wrong. The funicular was not moving. Twenty minutes passed, people began to freak out. The workers could not say anything intelligible. Looks like there's a problem with the top trailer. Since the system is single, the lower one does not move either. In the end, I sat, sat and walked.

Some went to the nearby carpet museum with the hope that the funicular would be operational within the hour. But I don't want a museum, I want Flame Towers. It flew up the mountain like a whirlwind. It turned out to be not that far to go, about a kilometer. The climb is not very steep. Only the sidewalks are very narrow.

Wow, what a beauty!

Construction of a shopping center. The sign says Caspian Waterfront Project.

Baku is called the “city of winds”, in America Chicago is called the “windy city”. They are located very similarly, and this is clearly visible from the observation deck in Nagorny Park. There are no skyscrapers, and everything is different, but I immediately remembered it.

Baku Eye Ferris Wheel, Mayak Restaurant, Crystal Hall Arena and National Flag Square

View of the towers from the observation deck. They symbolize three flames. In the evening the view is even more spectacular. The surface of the buildings is covered with LED screens. I even made a video of what I do in the most exceptional cases. I will make a separate post about evening Baku. If you can't wait, you can check out my Youtube channel. And I posted something on Facebook. Subscribe and be the first to know;)

Jeyran is one of the mascots of the 2015 European Games, which took place in Baku. There is also a Nar (pomegranate), I found it in the Primorsky Park, I’ll show it later.

There is a TV tower on a nearby mountain. Hmm, I thought, why don’t I go there. And off I went :)
